Types of flies

Written by Adrian Cataldi – Professional Fishing Guide in the area since 1991 – Full season exclusively guiding with Tipiliuke´s Team since 2001.

The Chime, is my favorite river, It’s a fly fishing mecca for serious anglers and is one of the more productive streams in the area for brown and rainbow trout.

There are many pools and runs where we can find a lot of different hatches during the whole season. The variety of mayflies hatches, stoneflies, caddis and terrestrial insects, like hoppers and ants, that occur between November and May are very reliable.

When it´s time to go to the river, I personally recommend the following flies:

Attractors: royal wullf, stimulator and pmx in different colors and sizes
Caddis: Tan elk hair caddis and parachute caddis.
Mayflies: adams, parachute adams, P.T. parachute and hexagenia.
Nymphs: pheasant tails, copper john, prince and caddis puppas.
Terrestrials: ants, beetles and different types of hoppers.
Streamers: woolly bugger, cougar and zonkers.

These are only some suggestions.
